Cherry Saturday 7-5-14

Today is Workaholics Day, which means if you’re working today, this day is for you, especially since it’s Saturday, which frankly, is just ostentatious of you. We’re not impressed. Go find a hammock and a good book.

The only thing I’ll be working today is my bikini and a pitcher of margaritas poolside. Happy Saturday, friends!

Did volunteer work today, if that counts. But I guess nobody would ever call me a workaholic.

I’m reading one of your books. I’m unable to be ostentatious about work any day of the week. I’m disabled so reading is now my ostentatious hobby. Thank you for ALL of your books.

Did you see all the love you’re getting on Jezebel?

I should write today. Bah.

It’s 1 pm & I’m about to get out of bed and get breakfast. 3rd day in a row where I took a 12 hour nap. I am hoping to quilt or trim bushes this afternoon.

Well, I wouldn’t consider myself a workaholic, but I am working today… at the library. We’re open and somebody’s got to be here! I would rather be in a hammock with a good book!

But I’m having FUN with my work. Actually, I’m procrastinating a writing project by cleaning/decluttering my office, and I’m just loving how much junk I’ve already thrown out (or freecycled or put in a pile to donate to the Friends of the Library) from a room that wasn’t all that cluttered to start with. It’s work, but it’s making me happy, so maybe it doesn’t count as work.

I’m going to take a long walk around the air-conditioned mall. Hope I don’t spend too much. : )

I can’t believe I’ve spent part of each day so far this weekend doing work around the house. Yesterday I mowed the lawn and did a couple of household projects I’ve been putting off. Today I ran a couple of errands, went for a 3 mile walk (that was for fun), and just finished trimming the hedge that divides my property from my neighbor’s. It’s about 7-8 feet high and at least 30-40 feet long. In self defense, I was trying to keep myself from moping over an anniversary that no longer has meaning to anyone but myself. As long as I had something to occupy me, I managed to avoid thinking about it. Now, however, the anniversary is over and my hammock swing is calling my name and I think there’s a good book awaiting my attention.

Guilty as charged. I got a new made-just-for-me desk and spent the last 2 days rearranging everything. Later, I write. For now, I take a brisk walk. Then there might be beer…

A brisk walk followed by a pint and writing is just intelligent multi-tasking, darling DB. Well done!

Oh come on! Are you telling me I’m the only one who checks emails and works a little platform? Dashes out a blog post? I don’t believe it.

(-: Went to Sapporo and saw my kid sing in her school festival! (But yeah, I ducked into a Starbucks and pounded out a blog post — had to work because I played Friday afternoon.) Today was a lazy, crazy, hazy summer day, though.

I painted my mother’s bathroom. It took forever because we were watching soccer, but I wrapped it up around 10 p.m. Looks really good. I spackled and everything! I love spackle. AND, on the drive to her place (about an hour away) I figured out the ending to my mystery, so there you go. I was firing on all cylinders.

Very much off topic, but where else do I go… are you aware that if you try to go to the Cherry Forums via your lovely cherry button, you find the site of an Australian tax advisor? Strange things happen in the Universe!

There has to be a good reason as to why you chose the word ‘ostentatious’ to describe a soul who happens to choose to work on a Saturday? I looked it up as I sometimes do to make sure that I understood the meaning of ‘ostentatious’ and I read “characterized by vulgar or pretentious display; designed to impress or attract notice.”

Perhaps I work Saturdays because I don’t have a real life or perhaps I’m way behind because of a a death in the family the week before. There are a myriad of reasons why I could be working on a Saturday and I don’t see any one of them as ostentatious? Working for myself, I don’d need to please the boss.

Maybe I’m just being vainglorious or perhaps pretentious.

PS: There must be a reason that the words I chose end in ‘ious’. I just don’t know what it is?

It was a failed attempt at humor. Happens to me a lot.
The “ious” suffix means “having the qualities of” or “full of” so it ends up on the tag end of a lot of adjectives.
