Day Four: Flu
Feb42013
Don’t even ask. It’s been vile.
But the good news is that Krissie, goddess that she is, worked on the office, moving in printers and futzing around with the electrical, so tomorrow’s post will show a lot of progress even if I divided my day between moaning in my bed and vomiting all over my shower-bathroom (and the bathroom is fabulous which was such a comfort). TMI? Hell, I didn’t want to know about it. Thank God for Krissie, who was a saint.
Tomorrow: shelves maybe, if I can move again.

Don’t try to do too much too soon! And remember that flu makes you feel depressed as well, especially when you’ve recovered from the physical symptoms, so be surprised if you feel low in a couple of weeks.

Um, that should be “DON’T be surprised”…

Gah! On the bright side, stomach bugs usually don’t last all that long. Here’s hoping this one is a quickie. So to speak.
And YAY Krissie!

Ugh! So sorry. Remember, you have time! Rest up. I know you want it done, but really, rest will pay off bigger than jumping back in too fast.
Yay for Krissie! (Psst to Krissie: Keep a wide berth from Jenny…)

I have to say that a fabulous bathroom *does* make a difference when you’re sick. Because a cramped, ugly one could make you feel sicker!
And … there, there, poor baby!

A good bathroom makes all the difference. Next time I’m that ill, I’m going to just set up camp there altogether.

The last time I had a migraine, I did set up camp in the bathroom with no window. Hubby brought pillows and blankets while I moaned, cursed, prayed & waited to throw up.

Ah, poor thing! Glad you have a caretaker and a fab bathroom to be sick in. Hope you are better today. Take care and give yourself time to recover.

It has past which is good. And the other plus, if there is one when feeling like this, you did have to sit on the loo with a vomit bucket on your knees.
Replace your electrolytes … I think that’s right. Hope you’re feeling better today.

May it pass quickly and avoid Krissie!

I hope it’s not the real flu! Did you get a flu shot? We all did, but my teen son got it anyway. Luckily, it was only 6 days of misery instead of the usual ten or so.
The other big thing going around is a new strain of Norovirus that’s never been seen in the US before. If you’re vomiting a ton and have a fever, too, please make sure you stay hydrated. And if you have fever, vomiting, AND the runs, go to a doctor because you might need a few bags of IV fluid.
My other son got the norovirus last year and fainted flat on his face from not being hydrated. I watched all 6’3″ of him fall over like a tree that had just been cut down. So keep on top of those fluids, and don’t move around unless you have to.
I hope it’s just a 48-hour tummy bug and you’ll be done with it. Good luck, Jenny, and I’m so glad Krissy is there to be your nurse!
P.S. In our house, the kids always got a kick out of my saying our dog is the family nurse, kind of like the dog in Peter Pan. Our dogs always have hovered when we’re sick. So maybe you have a couple short, furry nursing assistants there, too, providing good cheer.

Yikes! So sorry to hear you got sick. Stress did this to you. It mucks up your immune system. Hope you feel better soon!

I won’t offer any advice because the magic cure-all I give my family involves seaweed. Probably you don’t want to hear about seaweed.
But the good news is that you’re sick in your very own cottagy home. It may not be completely set up yet, but it’s yours. Never mind that it’s not getting “christened” with champagne. It’s got a teacup lamp. And a cool shower bathroom. And it’s by a lake. All that goodness will blast out the icky virus in no time:)

Oh, no, sorry to hear it’s hit both of you! I hope you can order in groceries or something.
At least the bathroom is easy to clean . . . I had never really thought about that aspect of it, because our toilets are in separate rooms. (Next house: American Wet Room.)
Please take care!
