The Problem of Stock Art

Apr262012

Why yes, I know I’ve been notable for my absence. Three things converged on this upcoming weekend because of my splendid planning skills. The good news is that by this time next week, all three will be done unless I’ve screwed up completely. One of them is the long-delayed-but-now-finally-almost-here collection of short stories, Crazy People. I’ll post more about them next week when they’re actually available, but for the moment bask in the glory of the cover . . . and then check out the poster that is evidently all over Oregon:

Isn’t that a great graphic? Somebody in Oregon thought so, too:

Nobody in Crazy People has an STD (that I know of; I really don’t trust Ronnie), but of course nobody in Oregon will believe that now.

Stock Art, the bad boyfriend of the graphics world: It’s cheap and untrustworthy. And yet, still attractive.

LOL Living in Oregon, that has special meaning. How great to have our public service announcements with a Crusie cover? And yeah for Crusie short stories, or any Crusie stories.

Too funny. I’m going to Oregon in June, I’ll have to look for these. Should make for unusual vacation photographs.

Now that there is hope on the short stories, is there any news on “Lavender’s dead”? I pre-ordered it a long time back, but now it’s been listed as “out of stock” for a month and I’m beginning to get antsy. Is it really truly published?

No. It’s still in manuscript form on my couch with lots of notations on it. And it’s two years past deadline.

It was supposed to be up today–Alastair and Lani’s work has been done all week–but I revised mine after I got the beta reports back and I was in the middle of it when I got sick, so . . . finishing up today come hell or high water.

Oh my gosh. Does this mean I get to reread the ABC version of Crazy for You (have I got that right?) which you made available to us a million years ago, and I have never figured out where I saved it. (Probably on the dusty ex-computer whose memory I wiped out last night, prior to finally sending to recycleland.)

Yes. The rewritten version is in the book and then the ABC exercise is in the appendix.

Theoretically, time is nature’s way of keeping everything from happening at once.

It never works for me. Never. Ever. It is boredom or overwhelm, never one thing after another.

We didn’t restrict sales to the US in any of the venues, but it’s up to them to decide the foreign sale aspect. I’ll know more when the book comes out in a couple of days.

So…is the book called Lavender’s Blue or Lavender’s Dead? I keep seeing both titles out there. Also…do we have a publication date??? Soon please?

I’m from Oregon and that is just so Oregonian…we don’t judge…

Jenny – You might want to tell Amazon b/c they have it as Lavender’s Dead. Also a release date of 4/1/12 for an unabridged audio-book, but we know that it s lie. Of course…don’t know if Amazon listen’s to authors. :) I guess I just have to look for the short stories…yet another reason to get an e-reader and join the modern age. Thanks for answering
