Monday Ticker: 24084

Mar82010

News Flash: Mona has a new look. Go to LucyMarch.com to check out her summer style. And while you’re there, if you’re a good writer and want to be a better one, check out Lucy’s Story Wonk page. Discovery and revision classes are opening now for June, and she really is a terrific teacher.

And now back to my slacker-i-ness:

So not even close to my 10K goal but still some progress. In my defense, I revised a huge collage presentation for National, read my Rita books, researched diners, worked on the Lavender collage, did two month’s worth of laundry, watched Kiss, Kiss, Bang, Bang, and spent Monday afternoon separating Lucy/Lani from some firefighters. No, really, she has pictures and she’s going to put them up Thursday, I believe.

The good news is that since I have to report them here, I did put on a burst of speed at the end of the week while trying to find tax documents that Mollie’s needed for weeks. So the whole Monday Ticker this is working. Sort of.

Onward and upward in that word count.

Addendum: That damn Lucy March is at just over 30,000 words, and she’s upstairs writing now. Perhaps if I try to catch up. Not that I’m competitive or anything but, you know, just as an incentive . . .

Hey progress is progress. I hope researching diners involved a field trip :)

Oh hey! I want to be separated from firefighters. Or more to the point, I want the part BEFORE getting separated! Firefighters sound like fun.

As long as there wasn’t a real fire involved. That wouldn’t be good.

Yeah, I’m pretty sure I enjoy the Girl Scout field trips to the fire station and the police station more than the girls do. ;-)

Kate – OT – I really enjoyed Moonlighting In Vermont. I wrote a review on amazon.com under Logical Reader Judy. Keep writing!

Hi Kate – also OT – I put a review up on Amazon, too. And I echo J. Long, “Keep writing!”

@ J and marly – Thanks guys! I REALLY appreciate hearing that you liked Moonlighting. And posted reviews? Must be angels or some kind of fairy god parents!

I won’t stop writing. Can’t really. It’s a disease.

more OT- sorry!! Just finished Moonlighting in Vermont 2 minutes ago. If the sequel were for sale, I’d be ordering it from Amazon right now instead of posting this.

What? No Alice and Wonderland this weekend?

I have to work. Seriously. Between the house and the book (and then add in getting stuff for taxes to Mollie late AGAIN) I’m slammed here.
Movies are for people who are caught up with their lives. I should be able to see another one again in about three years.

Me.
Too.

Not to shove you away from your work but Alice In Wonderland was freaking spectacular. I may have looked ridiculous in my giant 3-D glasses but it was WORTH it.

Oh, taxes. Will someone please tell my husband that the taxes are supposed to be HIS job. I go bald every year, pulling my hair out over turbotax. My mind just doesn’t work that way. I’m sure it’s a fine program, but I’ve had a whole year to lose the information I need. My house is a black hole…

Sadly, the Alice in Wonderland was something of a downer, in my very humble opinion. I wanted it to be so good and it just… wasn’t. Though I would dearly love to have Alice’s Wonderland wardrobe to run around the house in and play dress up in.

Yay for you! At least you’re making progress. I’m still putzing around, tweaking things, and barely moving forward. I have reminders everywhere that this week I write. Real words. No revisions. We’ll see how that goes.

Collages at Nationals? Woot!

Congratulations on everything you got done! Now that some of the other stuff is out of the way, there might be more room for words to make it on to paper. :)

Sounds like a busy week and a lot of accomplishments. That’s a good thing. Now what’s with the firefighters? First doctors, then cowboys, and now this. Do the firefighters have to be rich, too? I’m pretty lucky, I guess, I have a wife who prefers someone like me. But I’m going to be extra careful about fire safety now.

R – fire fighters are an interruption of fit, youngish men (usually) into life’s routine. I don’t think anyone expects fire fighters to be rich, too. It’s just that we’ve seen most of the men in our ruts, and new ones can be a treat.

A man who actually shares and participates in his wife’s interests is better than a treat – but fire safety is always important.

Any progress at all works for me, just as long as I get the next book. We junkies need our fixes, you know. You do what you gotta do.

I had never considered how helpful it might be to have another author in the house to spur my competitive streak into producing more copy. Will go post an ad on craigslist immediately advertising for a new roommate. I’m sure my husband will understand.

I use a ticker and its sort of working for me, too. Its as if you want to make sure you progress on your story regularly, because now there’s something visual that shows other people just how often you work. (Unlike yours, though, mine hasn’t moved for a few weeks.) :)

I’m incredibly challenged in a bad way and couldn’t get the stupid ticker thing figured out so in usual Brenda Style, I gave up.

I’m ACHING to see Alice… *le sigh*

Jenny: You do sooo much that it boggles my mind, and the way Lani can crank out the words leaves me seriously godsmacked.

Dear Jenny, how is your ankle? Are the dogs being understanding about not getting under your feet or bumping against it unecessarily?

Oh, it was fine after about three days. I stayed off of it–easy to do if you’re a writer–and everything’s fine now.
