Third time not the charm : ( I got the form again, but it was no longer taking submissions. Regardless, you rock my socks, Jennifer Crusie.

Well, at least today I saw the form. I was just too late to submit, but I gave it the good college try.

i think I got major lucky today. My self-prayer went something like, If I get the book this time round, I’ll chill with my ebay addiction. Then I got “congrats, we’ll be in touch”. please please please tell me I didnt mess up the form. IF I get it, I promise I’ll share with the dc metro ppl. we can start a crusie addiction group….ok I think I have an addictive personality. Hmm, now how to turn that power into use for good…
On February 26, 2010 at 12:21 pm J said...
Well, a Crusie addiction isn’t too bad of a way to deal with some of it.
On February 26, 2010 at 12:27 pm Eve said...
lol true. I feel like we should make a list. “On how to deal with life’s stresses”
1 – Wine.
1.5 – Crusieeee

Very true.
Maybe we should have a DC area Crusie get together. There seem to be several of us in the area.

I’m all for it
My friends (who are all proper and busy and normal) keep giving me dirty looks when I go off on rants about the brilliance of funny animals and cooking references in romance books. Email me at evelyn@surprise.zenbe.com if you wanna set something up.

I’d be up for it! So long as it’s metro accessible.

It accepted my form! Not sure if I won but I used lifehacker’s suggestion of using the IP address instead of the words to load a site. No idea if it helped.
Also, really glad I closed my office door at 11:58 because I did a totally dorky happy dance when it actually accepted the form. Really hoping I actually won. It might end up being an early Mother’s Day present after I read and comment if I did win it. She was the one to introduce me to Crusie books and keeps claiming that my life sounds like a Crusie novel (note–this should be a new self-help book–live your life like a romance novel–or something like that) so it would be fitting. Oh I hope I got it. It’s been a long arse week at work and I need to work late tonight.

I think I’d really like your mom
love that philosophy. Sorry about boohoo bosses
On February 26, 2010 at 12:14 pm Bethany said...
Eh, my bosses right now are decent, just a lot of client requests (we do contract work so keeping the clients happy is uber important) this week so just crazy busy. Of course, I’ve been taking ten minutes to frantically hit refresh at noon every day this week so I probably shouldn’t complain.
My mom can be pretty awesome. I think I confuse her a lot of the time–obsessed with dogs and cats while she’s terrified of or allergic to them–but she always tries really hard to be supportive.

Are you sure you’re not out of a Crusie book? You sound awesome
Public relations can be draining but I hope you like your job so that it’s all worth it.
Are you a closeted writer by night or just a general comedy supporter?
On February 26, 2010 at 2:01 pm Bethany said...
I’m a great writer who hasn’t actually finished a real story yet but is okay with that because her life plan says that happens once I’m in my 30s.
And thank you.
It’s a weird mix of communications and marketing more than straight PR, but I like what I’m learning and think that the health issues we’re publicizing are worthwhile. If any of you watched the pre-show before the Super Bowl and saw an HIV test ad with J. Foxx, my coworker put that together. I’m not on any projects quite as impressive, but at the end of the day I think I’ve contributed toward good. I’d love to use these skills for animals, but those “official” positions are rare so I just volunteer with them and write on my blog.

I love lifehacker!! Best tips ever.
Glad it worked for you….and if you’re inclined to share with crazy redheads, let me know. =)

Katie Redhead, are you near DC?
On February 26, 2010 at 12:24 pm Katie Redhead said...
Somewhat – I’m in CT…. and you’re so sweet, but I’m really just kidding about that anyway. I will wait it out like a well-behaved rabidly obsessed fan, and cheer you on as you help Jenny with your comments.
Plus, you definitely need to keep it close to give it to your mother! Such a thoughtful gift and a special secret you two should enjoy.
Besides – Jenny said the end blows dead bears. (TEASING again)

lol, Bethany – if you’ll tell me you’re from Baltimore, I am gonna giggle. It’s like Charm City people just give off a quirky vibe
On February 26, 2010 at 2:03 pm Bethany said...
Sorry. From Cleveland originally, living in Silver Spring/DC currently. Only been to Baltimore twice–work and baseball–other than for BWI.
On February 26, 2010 at 2:27 pm Eve said...
Note to self – visit Ohio.
Silver Spring is quirky too – I used to go for Huna (Hawaiian Spiritual practices) there. So cool about the work you’re doing – yay public wellbeing
animal rights are very important too – I’m doing the MDSPCA March for the Animals (ironically in April) this year- it’s fun if you want another Baltimore thing to add to the list.
How do you feel about a Crusie DC Metro group (a la Jane Austen Book Club)? A mysterious “j” suggested it above. If you like it, email me (also above). We can then all huddle and obsess over upcoming reissues and hardbacks to be published together
