New Title, Exploded Head

Nov252009

So we have a new title for Always Kiss Me Goodnight:

You Again.

Yes, I was working on another book called You Again. It hit the wall where it’s resting comfortably at the moment. A new title will probably be good for it if I ever go back to it. In the meantime, its title was just lying around, and it works really well since this is about a woman who ends up back with her ex-husband and about ghosts trying for a second time around so . . .

You Again.

I’m going to go lie down while I try to wrap my head around that. Then I’m going to start the prep for Thanksgiving dinner. I have much to be thankful for this year, including, now, a new title.

Have a fabulous Thanksgiving, Argh People. And for those of you outside the US, you really should celebrate, too. It’s not about our ancestors giving plague blankets to the people who were here first so we could steal their land, it’s about turkey and dressing and generally taking stock of our blessings. I highly recommend it.

You Again. Huh.

You Again. Yeah, I like that. It works on a lot of levels (including, of course, the ghosts).

Um, Jenny, you know the problem will be that you will have to state every time this is not YOU AGAIN, You Again, but AKMG titled as You Again.

But then your head exploded so you may know of the future pitfalls of “oh, you finished You Again.”

You Again. I like it.

Two movies and a song share the title. The song is a country tune by the Forrester Sisters. You can d/l it to the iPod for inspiration.

Maybe the original “You Again” can be called “Not You Again.”

I know titles are important for setting the scene, so I’m glad that you feel better about this! Anything that gets the book closer to my eager hands and eyes is a good thing.

Have a wonderful T-day!

I am in total agreement Diane! I am in Jenny book withdrawal…Definitely going to need to start rereading books again! I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!

Yep, that’s “You Again”, always coming up with good titles.

But I still kinda like AKMG.

You Again is a perfect title for this story. I love it.

Happy Turkey day Jenny, and all of the Argh Ink people.

I am Canadian, so way ahead of you on the turkey thing. Of course, this is not to say I couldn’t have turkey again. Hmmmm… Anyway, happy Thanksgiving, and yay for new title!

You Again really needs a pronunciation key. If it had a question mark, it would sound completely different than if there was a comma or a pause between the two words.

It reminds me of the title of the TV series “Everyone loves Raymond” – I never watched the show and thought the title was weird but I heard one of the actors say that it came from the older brother who would say it jealously in a whiney voice. Sorry about the adverb – Elmore Leonard would be appalled.

We’re ahead of you, Jenny. Canadians celebrate Thanksgiving the first Monday in October (or maybe it’s the second – it must be, because it’s always around the 10th). We do that so we have two months to anticipate Christmas. Really we do it because it’s traditionally a harvest celebration for us, and our harvest arrives earlier than yours. But really we do it because we want to have one up on the Americans in *something*. But we really, really do it because jumping the gun by six weeks helps alleviate the whole “Canadians are so polite” thing.

See, we’re really not.

It’s all good.

Happy Thanksgiving, wherever you are. Use ours, if you don’t have one. Great food and counting blessings. It works in all languages, religions and cultures.

You, Again (with Again in italics). Again is a funny looking word.

(-: Happy Thanksgiving, all! Our ex-pat community is throwing our bash on the weekend, because “Labor Thanksgiving Day” on Monday was all booked-up with personal stuff. And we’re ordering in Very Expensive Turkey. Yay!

I am thankful for the opportunity to read great blogs, which are written with charm and insight (and yes concise vigor) and have lively and intriguing comments that require one to check back in regularly to see what’s been going on in one’s absence.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Yes, have a wonderful thanksgiving everyone. Another Canadian. Thankfully we celebrate in October as it gives us a wee bit more time before Christmas to get things done. (Yeah, right!) Does anyone really get all the things done?! Oh, well, we can live in hope. Have happy day, Jenny & friends.

Another Canadian resident, but I’m an American and thus pretty confused about Thanksgiving.

I hear that leftover gravy is good for putting exploded heads back together. I wouldn’t really know, though, because I’m not clear on the concept of “leftover” gravy.

Grateful for writers and readers today, that’s me!

Did you at least get your hair dyed before the explosion?
Happy Thanksgiving.

On November 26, 2009 at 11:48 am Jenny said...

Yes, I dyed my hair. Nobody can tell the difference.
“Leftover gravy”? That’s impossible.
Happy Thanksgiving, everybody!

We’re proactive about gravy in this family. We forecast it. And, the forecast is based on the principle that too much is always enough.

Really, it’s because we usually go to the SIL’s for T-day. Big family, complete chaos, ‘specially that last 30 minutes on account of you can’t make the gravy until the turkey comes out, so everybody’s salivating over my shoulder as I whisk. Wised up 10yrs ago. I cook a turkey at home a few days before, and take the ready to-be-thickened stock to the SIL’s so that gallon of gravy’s done before the turkey comes out. It’s amazing how much easier it makes putting dinner on the table. And, I go home with the stock from the T-day turkey to make another gallon of gravy for the turkey I have in the freezer. Life is Good. Life covered in gravy is better.

I am thankful for Reynold’s turkey bags for providing enough stock to make a gallon of gravy, and for ending my 20-year tradition of getting burned trying to baste the damn turkey.

I am thankful for the fruition of You Again the second, and the promise of You Again the first.

I am thankful for the Cherry community, where swords are drawn to be examined, not to be crossed, and snark is an amusing by-product, not a goal to be achieved at the expense of kindness and manners.

I am particularly thankful that even though Jenny has exploded her head in service to us, her nearest and dearest will have it glued back together and restuffed by end of day. Have a great day, everybody!

I’ll throw in my pilgrim hat for the new title. I love when what you needed was right under your nose the whole time. And perhaps someday the first You Again will become a Do Over.

Happy day-after T-Day, everyone.

Haven’t been around long enough to know about the first You Again but I like the title for this one. I’m gonna have to find the Taming of the Shrew & reread it, though cause I’m not completely getting the connection to that & You Again formerly known as Always Kiss Me Goodnight.
I’m thankful that it is closer to done. I myself totally failed at NaNoWriMo. So glad you are prolific.

On November 27, 2009 at 12:43 pm Jenny said...

Not Taming of the Shrew.
Turn of the Screw.
Must stop referring to source as TotS.

On November 27, 2009 at 1:44 pm Marta said...

Wouldn’t Turn of the Shrew would be a great romantic comedy title?

On November 28, 2009 at 10:53 pm Meredith B. said...

Only if it were a Crusie. I think most of us around here tend to like the shrew untamed.

On November 27, 2009 at 8:11 pm McB said...

Then she could title it Return of The Shrew.

I can speak only for my own bent self, but I’d read Taming of the Screw. If it were a Crusie.

Would that book be set in a hardware store?

On November 28, 2009 at 3:29 pm Carol Anne said...

Ha, speaking for your own bent self, well, not the only one. Bent like a pretsel on the west coast. I love the titles-Taming of the Screw, Turn of the Shrew, and Return of the The Shrew, especially if they were al la Crusie. Sounds like titles to a series. Taming of the Screw-you could go so many places…

On November 28, 2009 at 8:39 pm Sheri said...

Can’t see the reference to Taming of the Shrew without remembering that hysterical parody on “Moonlighting”….

You Again. I remember you talking about this one awhile back. In fact, I was convinced it was a published Crusie and spent some fruitless hours searching for it at Amazon, etc until someone finally enlightened me over at JCF that it was merely a working title for an as-yet unreleased book. Nice that you can re-use a title that you like for something that it fits better. Sort of like going to the closet and finding that favorite sweater that was a little out-dated and too small five years ago and now it has not only come back in style but it fits you like a glove! Bonus! So. Got the title. When do we get the actual BOOK?!! *grin*

On November 29, 2009 at 12:34 am McB said...

Well there you go, Ms. J. A new series, or at least a trilogy, and we’ve already provided the titles. Now you just have to fill in all those words and punctuation and stuff. Think of the collage!

On November 29, 2009 at 10:54 am Marta said...

Even though I’ve been looking forward to the original You Again for a loooooong time, I think that title is a great fit for AKMG. Only, now you need another name for the original.

So, just to be helpful (well, really because we’re way behind on leaf and puppy poop mitigation, and that means I’ve been in the back yard with a rake for days), I’ve been thinking about replacement titles.

For some reason, Auld Lang Syne keeps popping into my head. Maybe it’s the Christmas to New Year setting. Anyway, I looked up the lyrics and found out the song’s really about old lovers. Who knew?
