As a charter class member of UC Irvine, I remember when we voted the Anteater in as mascot the accompanying exhortation was, “Give ‘em the tongue, the tongue, the tongue! Zot!”

Urrr… I have to admit, while reading most of the story, that I thought perhaps this was meant to be a sort of anti-superhero story like “Man Not Superman.” It’s really only the last line of the story that makes 100% clear that this is not a story about the kind of universe in which there are actual Bigfoots. (Bigfeet?)

Speaking of great teachers . . . I saw in RT Magazine that you, Krissie and Lani are attending. Is that so? I’ve never heard Lani speak but I ALWAYS learn something so valuable it’s priceless from you and Krissie. This alone is reason to go to the convention. Well, that and seeing numerous friends, getting to do something fun or wacky in a Heather Graham performance, and whatever else comes up.

Larry’s closed last year. (I think? Maybe the year before?) It made me so sad because I’ve known people from several generations with fond memories of Larry’s–and the memories are almost always the same, no matter when you were an OSU student.

While I was reading, the name Ron Carlson was really familiar. Then the last paragraph clinched it: I read “Bigfoot Stole My Wife” for my modern short story class.
As I remember it, there were a few people in that class who actually thought Bigfoot really did steal the man’s wife.
