I love Things You Wouldn’t Know If We Didn’t Blog Incessantly. I’ve never failed to find something fascinating on it. Like news of Anak Krakatoa getting ready to blow again. Or a picture of the pool at the mouth of the Danube. Or news that there’ll be shooting stars tonight (Aug. 12). Or this picture of a man with his dead second wife (or second dead wife; there’s a picture of the first dead wife on there, too):

Or this picture of evil contact lenses (the hair clip is even better):

You can spend hours on there. Do not miss the Giant Japanese Salamander or the World’s Oldest Map. Truly a wonderful blog.

I saw 4-6 meteors early this morning! Last night was a bust – clouds to the NE, where the constellation was supposed to be, but I was able to see the shooting stars at 5-ish this morning, despite the bright moon. The bigger surprise was that I remembered to look either time.

I love this part of their profile: “We try to be the cyberequivalent of a Victorian cabinet of curiosities.” Sounds very steampunk goth.

Ohhh yeahhhh!!! I got the meteor shower thing covered! I too saw four to five…saying that because the one I think I saw could have been my eyes willing a star to shoot…who knows…I was still on my first cup of coffee at 3 AM Central Time…LOL!!! But there was one cosmic shot that was just brilliant and huge…’course I “saw” that beauty after coffee cup three…so there’s that…
And thanks bunches for the link to this great Things You Wouldn’t Know site. My DH (SweetMan) says I’m the queen of useless tidbits…ohh yeahhh…will I amaze him with my plethora of cool knowledge and know-how now!

And wasn’t it Icarus that flew too close to the sun and his wings melted sending him crashing to his death?!

Sat out last night for about half an hour…saw one meteor. Seemed to originate from one of the lower points of the “W” in Cassiopia constellation.

On the website I scrolled down to the Trombone Suicides video. As the Mom of a former trombone player, I was in awe.

Not going there yet. Last time I went to a site you linked to, I got lost for an hour. I’ll have to wait till Monday night after work is completed successfully.
Thanks for great links though!
