How I missed your blog while I was traveling this summer!

I too am familiar with the BDE. I had to go to Duluth, MN to pick my sister up from the airport and decided to stay overnight and do some shopping while I was there (my father lives in a log house in the woods, literally) I also decided to treat my children to some things they don't get to do much while living in Egypt the rest of the year so one day after we did some necessary back-to-school shopping I took them to a movie, then bowling, then swimming at the hotel before we went out to eat for dinner. BDE!! A few days later when back in the woods, we took them out to a lake and let them splash in the cold waves. BDE!! Fishing in the fog? BDE!!! I wish I could be so easily entertained. Going to have to work on that :)

Thanks, L.M. Somebody just tipped me to that today and I wrote them telling them to take down the book and my name. We'll see what happens. Needless to say, I didn't have anything to do with that.

Wish I had been at RWA. While checking for RWA posts on Trish Milburn's blog, I came across this--the best wedding march I've ever seen. It just makes me all happy inside, and I had to share.

Sorry to pop in with this, but someone may want to look into it further. I was reading the latest Writer Beware blog post, and they mentioned this about vanity publisher Wake Up Publishing:
"There are only about 30 entries so far. Many are, as you might expect, self- or micropress-published, but the contest also seems to have been seeded with some commercially-published books, including one by Jennifer Crusie (I wonder if she knows?)--for whom, if she were to win, the B&N bestseller package would surely be a bit redundant."

Here's the link to the Wake Up Publishing pseudo-Jenny:

I finally understand the play on the name of the toy in Jenny's story _Hot Toy_. Major MacGuffin. I had never heard of the term before. (I'm a little slow.) She's such a smartie!

A bit political, but I liked how this story was told:
http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2009/7/7/751100/-How-I-lost-my-health-insurance-at-the-hairstylists

It made me think about whether there is such a thing as a female story-telling style, because aside from the gender-specific words used in the story (being a wife and mother instead of a husband and father, and having to fear ovarian cancer), it could have been a man's story in terms of the facts. Yet it sounded somehow really clearly female to me.

Oh, I missed this. I love Random Sunday. Was travelling before Nationals and refused to take the laptop as this was summer vaccay, the only one I'll get. Jenny looked great at the Awards ceremony and Krissie was hysterical. I almost thought she'd walk on stage with "the pig", instead she chose to ride around the stage in her motorized wheelchair wearing a Nun's habit (after about three changes of costume and then two or three more throughout the evening). 'Twas a lot of fun. Good movie clips, excellent music.
And Deborah, I agree that was a great workshop. I got there a little late due to an agent appt. and had to sit on the floor behind a post that blocked my view. Finally got a chair, then a coughing fit and had to slip outside for ten seconds. Yeah, someone swooped in and stole my chair but I didn't complain, just went back and stood behind the post. What really impressed me was the number of pubbed authors taking notes. You've still got it JC!
The Cherries dinner was a lot of fun. Sat at a table with Virgina Kantra and her hubby. The discussion was like a bonus workshop, paranormals, animals, sex, romance, and it got a little heated at times, which is always good. Very informative.
Got home to absolutely dirty carpets and doggy footprints everywhere, don't know what happened but it looked like several four-footed pals had been over for a party. My gal is usually neater when she dog sits. Oh well. So long as the pooch was happy.

Hi Jenny,
It was great to finally meet you at Nationals! You are just as warm and funny in person as you are in your books. Getting to meet you was the high point of my trip (well, the agent/editors requests were pretty nice...but meeting you was good, too). Your Turning Points workshop was amazing, and made me realize I needed to do some serious tweaking before I sent my 2nd ms out to the folks who requested it. *Shakes her fist at Jenny* Thanks so much--I think. Seriously, I really appreciate you sharing your writing wisdom; my WIP will be a much better book because of it. Will now start quietly stalking you online instead of in person :-)
Your favorite Nationals stalker (unless the others brought you Godiva, too)

Micki, thanks for the recommendation! I checked out the website and while I agree the clothes aren't flashy, I am already in love with the "model" who can be made to look just like me and try on the clothes. These people are m-f- BRILLIANT. Now someone just needs to convince them to make two-piece bathing suits that don't cover one's entire torso (missing the point here, folks...).

Also, a self-correction: when I put the meta-tag code in for the above comment, it of course vanished because it was code. So here in hopefully visible form:

['less than' symbol]META NAME="keywords" content="legal blog, legal, blog, blawg, law, law blog, de novo, novo"['greater than' symbol]

['less than' symbol]META NAME="description" content="Legal Group Weblog"['greater than' symbol]

So for this website, you'd probably want to use something like keywords content="Jennifer Crusie, Crusie, Jenny Crusie, romance, women's literature, argh, argh ink, welcome to temptation"
and description content= "Jennifer Crusie website"

Hello? You seem to think "naked under my clothes" is a BAD thing! :)

I'm not a big fan of trying to squeeze my body into a shape it's not, but I am a big fan of standing straight, and I have found that good underwear makes me do that.

The gift was buried under stuff in the office off the dining room which is the only reason I found it because if it was in my office, we'd still be digging. What happened was that we turned the third floor attics and guest bedroom into what is essentially a two bedroom apartment, and that meant all the stuff in the attics had to come down into the second floor where I live and we haven't quite . . . sorted it yet. Most of it is going on eBay. For months and months because there's tons of it. But first Nationals. And I'm not being witty and wise, I'm being cranky. That drive from NJ wasn't pretty. But I'm here now and Krissie is down in our room hugging the Pig, so all is well. (Sorry, Melissa!)

Jenny, I know you're at Nationals right now, being witty and wise, but we need to know the real burning issue: where WAS the gift??

(thanks, AgTigress, for that feedback. Universal truth occasionally finds my doorway.)
