Ta Da! Dogs and Goddesses!
Feb32009
It’s out. D&G should be in stores now. Of course, without a laydown, stores can put it out whenever the want but we had to have a birthdate and here it is.
We’re talking about it over on the D&G site. Oh and yesterday (Monday Feb 2) on the D&G blog: blurry pictures of Wolfie and Milton with Veronica making a cameo.
Nothing but good times ahead (and thank you in advance to anybody who bought the book, we love you!)

I’m holding out on buying it until the 13th. Rumor has it that there will be a book signing at at store in Dayton…

I ordered it from Amazon with my Christmas gift card on December 28 and it came last Friday.

Yay to Amazon for delivering.
Now my only worry is that we won’t deliver for you.
Writers are an angsty lot.

I bought it at B&N today and found it in the center aisle on the “New Arrivals” rack.
So far so good.

I pre-ordered ages ago. In fact, when I checked the other day, it turned out I had pre-ordered it twice! I just got an email from Amazon today that they shipped it out, so I’m looking forward to a nice read this weekend.

am I the first to say this? I can’t believe it. . . I read it, I loved it, I’m going back to read it again. I want Sam for my very own. . . and I’m looking at my dog in a whole new light.
Congratulations.

I, too, am holding out until the Dayton Signing. I hope they are ready in so many different ways.

Ditto on K. L. and Wapak’s statements. Beware the almost-Ides of February.

I bought it Monday at Walgreens in Issaquah, WA. I was surprised to find it there because they have such limited book space. Your books were on the top 20 rack, I think in the number 16 spot, and the lovely cover really stood out.

Amazon must have run out, because I ordered last week early and they just shipped me The Sharing Knife, Horizon, without D&G.
Congrats! I was going to read it and then buy more in Dayton, but I may not be able to read it before, now – they’re not shipping ’til next Tuesday.

Bought it on the 2nd and inhaled it: great characters, great fun, loved the dogs (even if I refuse to live with any in real life, I can still love other people’s dogs). The 3 of you deliver the goods every time!

I tried to get my library to let me take it Monday night. They said there was someone on the waiting list. I told them I’d have it finished by the morning but they wouldn’t budge. So I hauled myself out yesterday to Barnes and Noble in the snow storm, bought myself a copy, came home and snuggled in for the night. Finished at 1 a.m. All I can say is “EXCELLENT!”

I am half way through my copy – Borders, used 25% off coupon. Jreat fun, liked it much better than some of the early drafts. Should have known 3 professionals would turn out a great story.

I’m waiting til the signing in Dayton, but it is really driving me nuts to wait that long… I’m a glutton for punishment. I hope they have enough for all of us. Maybe you should tell them to order a couple dozen extra.

Ducked into our local bookstore yesterday and snagged a copy. Looking forward to it!

My local Borders didn’t have it but said it “was on a truck somewhere” and should be here in a few days. Deprivation!

Another glutton here. As I recall, the last time we visited Dayton en mass they had to go into the back room to find more copies of both AATHM and Bob’s Lost Girls. Heh.

Got it! And as I left the bookstore I pictured myself curling up with it tonight, while the temp outside continues to plummet…. and knew I had to cross the street and grab a bottle of Cab Sauv to go with it.

I wanted to ask a question on the B&N Book club but I couldn’t get that sight to do ANYTHING for me. I signed up and everything! Oh well. Perhaps you won’t mind me asking here:
Is it faster to write with three authors, each one presumably writing one third – OR does all the conferring slow things down?
Can’t wait to get to the bookstore to read Dogs & Goddesses?
On February 4, 2009 at 4:13 pm JanLo said...
Preordered it with Amazon. Got it yesterday, already reading and what I’ve read so far is wonderful. Thanks for another splended job! Can’t wait for the next effort to appear on the Crusie horizon.
On February 4, 2009 at 4:13 pm Jenny said...
Hey, it took me all morning to get on the B&N site, Kate,so I feel for you.
I think it’s faster with three authors, but it’s not one third the time. You have to talk a lot and swap scenes back and forth so there’s a lot more time spent just TALKING. But it is faster in the end. That’s not a reason to do it, though. I learn so much when I collaborate. Knocks me out of my ruts.
So the answer to your questions is Yes and Yes.
And thank you to everybody who shelled out your hard-earned for this book. I am very appreciative.

Wow! Cool site! Very fresh and easy on tired eyes.
I’m finishing D&G tonight, to heck with writing. Loving the story and it’s easy to see how you all had so much fun writing it.

I ordered from Amazon…and they are holding my book hostage! I considered cancelling the order, but my Borders did not have it in stock. They are missing both D&G and another book from St. Martin’s that I am waiting on. Amazon finally shipped so I am waiting patiently, but they better have it here for the weekend!

Did Mollie redecorate some time yesterday? Very cool.
It would be great to see more Cherry mug shots.

Well, this is a fun new look! Amazon was just lowering my expectations, apparently – they shipped yesterday, and now expect it to arrive next Tuesday.
Although those expectations may still be unreasonable – USPS has my other book IN THIS TOWN and the “arrival date” is still not until Monday. So, it’ll be a pleasant surprise when it comes early. I hope.

I looked all over my Borders for it yesterday, found a LDR novel in the bargain bin and figured “what the heck” and picked that up, but finally had to ask the clerk to find it. Apparently, they’d sold out already!
On the plus side, they sold out. On the minus side, I didn’t have it and it was only 4 books. So I hauled over to the bigger B&N and they had it in the vertical stand where they put new pbs, right at eye level. There were 5 books left, and I got one of them. I got to page 188 before falling asleep and dropping the book on the floor.

It’s a good clean look, isn’t it?
Mollie and I are revamping Crusie world all through the spring, so this is probably just a placeholder, although I have to admit, I love it, too.
And thank you all for the kind words on the book! Not to mention for BUYING it. We’re grateful.

You know, I was going to whine that you never seem to make it to Columbus, but I checked the Facebook page and saw that you’ll be at Thurber House in July! I’m so excited.
Still hoping to make it to Books & Co. (my former place of employment) but I’m glad you are heading a little further north and east.

Just bought it this afternoon, and haven’t had a chance to read it, yet. Now for some serious enjoyment. Talk to you later, I really like the cover, as was said before, the cover art is bright enough to catch the eye.

Had a reading marathon yesterday and into today, interrupted only by meals and work. Finished about half an hour ago. Whew! Jenny, Krissie, and Lani have done it again! (Well, Lani for the first time with Jenny and Krissie, but you all know what I mean.) I had such a good time reading it, and I am trying so hard not to inundate you all with exclamation points. See? I’m not using them. But it was so good!!!!!!!!!
Oh, I give up.

So much fun! I really enjoyed the book – very seamless, lots of funny stuff and some fine characters – both good and evil!
We’ve lost power, but I’m not quite sure why (as I wrote that, it went back on! My laptop battery is grateful). Good thing – I was not looking forward to dressing for the Pops in Cincinnati by candlelight! Especially since I haven’t yet decided what to wear.
Happy reading to all those who aren’t done yet!

Lovin’ the snazzy new site
Just finished D&G! The fun of writing this book really showed in the end product. There was a real flawlessness in the three different voices. It really flowed for me. Loved Sam btw. Now where can I find me a man like that?

Milton, he quotes “Big Trouble in Little China”. ROFLOL. Love it. And I can see the real Milton doing that too.
My brother and I must have watched BTiLC several dozen times in high school. He even wrote a college entrance essay around it, using several quotes. He wasn’t so keen on the college that he was too concerned about taking creative chances and got accepted (but went elsewhere).
As to the website, I like having the multiple threads on the splash page, but I do miss the pretty cherry.

Drat you, Jenny, Amazon delivered my copy to me yesterday, and I was up until 3 a.m. finishing it and consequently was a zombie at work today.
I think I’ll go read it again.

Finally finished the book. Outstanding work. The story got me right away, and then the blending of the characters was so well done. (Although, for a minute you guys had me worried about Sam, but I did like what did for/to Mina. Bowser and the pack will train her well.)
Milton, and Wolfie sound super, and of course Bailey. I think most of us have known dogs with bits of all the personalities, and I really liked the human characters, and even Kammani. I’m glad you didn’t finish her off completely, but I figure Hollywood can also handle one more . . . mmm goddess. Thank you all for the fun.
