Ghost Whisperer. And if I looked anything like Jennifer Love Hewitt I'd were clothes like that too. She's dressed like a 50s glamour girl right now.

Hawkins Cheezies in Philly Herb and Spice dip. I'm a Herb and Spice junkie. Without it I'd look like JLH.

Practical Magic - movie not book. I'm also a sucker for any and all cheesy supernatural/secret society/conspiracy movies.

Under my bed...

1. Candy wrappers. I inherited the worlds largest sweet tooth. I don't buy it, I steal it from candy dishes everywhere, restaurants, business, unattended desks...otherwise I'd be the size of the goodyear blimp.

2. Books. The book shelves are full, I'm out of storage containers, so I'm purging. There are four stacks, One stack of yet to be read, one stack of toss, one stack of keep, and one stack of quibbling over.

I also have a degree in English. One of the worst clases I had in College was Stinebeck, Hemingway, Faulkner and Fitgerald. Most depressing writers I've ever read. I had to write a thesis on "Light In August". Argh. I TRUGGED through Grapes of Wrath.

3. Yarn projects. Three of them, a crocheted sweater, a knit ruana, and a tablecloth. One counted cross-stitch piece that's been on the frame for - oh - three years or so.

4. Empty Green Tea bottle. Diet of course. I'm 58...everything is diet.

5. Age of Mythology. I play computer games every morning before work. I also have all of the Nintendo game systems except the Wii. Mario is the only thing I can sucessfully play. I love it, but I'm so bad at it that my children just Howl with laughter watching me.

Wow, just reading these posts has been a guilty pleasure. Ladies, you have inspired and touched me with your honesty and bravery. And I found myself saying "Hell yeah!" a lot too :)

Barbara, I'm with Becky, spend the holidays blissfully. My life hostage (as I call him after 11 years of unwed bliss ;) and I stopped going to my family functions during the holidays because I would always cry. Not a boo-hoo-sniff-sniff-cry but a come-home-lay-on-the-bed-and-openly-sob-cry! SO I gave up holidays with my family. I declared that I had a family of my own to spend the holidays with....my life hostage, our most beloved dog and the three alien life forms posing as cats that occupy space with us. I do gift exchange on other days and preserve the actual day for myself....guilt free! My family rarely calls and I think how much could they possibly miss me?

Hollygee - I'm with you with the dance movies. Lambada was on cinemax or showtime a few weeks ago and I could barely make eye contact with the life hostage when he walked in. I'd add Salsa to the list too!

Deb - We have a lot in common...lotion, handbags (totally obsessed!!) and Craig Ferguson is totally hilarious and his accent is super cool!

Janeth - Ernest Scared Stupid is a great Halloween Ernest movie! I love watching Hocus Pocus too!

Most of the movies mentioned here I love...anything in the
80's. The cheesier the better!

Grease 2 - I've seen so many times I can sing along no problem.....I need a cooool rider :)

Hudson Hawk - clever dialogue and I LOVE the singing!

The Mummy and The Mummy Returns - if I'm sick or need a down day they are in the vcr.

The Year of the Comet - great romantic movie...I just melt a little each time :)

Football movies - I don't know what it is about these movies but name one and I've seen it and cried....Radio just about dehydrates me each time!!

Action movies - sometimes you've just gotta blow shit up! And girls...I just love watching stuff blow up! It's so cathartic. Watching the last scenes of The Rundown, with The Rock, really revs my engines!

Movies with cute boys - Gerard Butler (he is all that is man), Colin Firth, Tom Selleck, George Clooney, and the list goes on!

Wife Swap (this is a REAL shadow admission!!!)

Food - when I'm hormonal I can eat horseradish from the jar by the spoonfuls...sometimes with chocolate, movie popcorn with butterfinger bbs, and I'm sorry to put this out there because I think it's like turning your friends on to meth or having them read Twilight but Devil Dogs in the freezer!!! Orgasmic! I refuse to buy Devil Dogs....it's that good!

TV shows from my childhood, such as...

Hart to Hart....the life hostage refers to me as "darling" in his Robert Wagner voice when he wants to make points ;)

Magnum, P.I......Tom Selleck in short shorts....really nuff said....the life hostage has a few pairs of shorter than regular shorts ;)

Charlie's Angels...I still harbor fantasies of being a private detective!!

CHiPs - Every week Ponch was teaching or learning a lesson. One of my favorites is when they pulled over some kid for listening to his headphones while driving...you know the helmet sized radio head sets from the 70's?..LOL!!

I buy jeans from walmart, sometimes target. I always hit the clearance racks first because a $3 top is a trophy.

Facebook - flair, superpoke and myfarm in all their glory.

Music - I can be a real music snob but I have my guilty pleasures like the Pussy Cat Dolls and Katy Perry. I love the beats on those rare occasions I'm on the treadmill ;) I also live for a good cover song!! It's another obsession.

Twilight - I'm totally over the moon for Edward. The first book was the best and could have been the only in my book. I'm totally crushin' on Rob Pattison, the 22 year old who plays Edward in the movie, even though I feel a little dirty about it because I'm 33! I have a real weakness for cute boys.

Romance and Chick lit books. I will from time to time pick up something more serious like The Kite Runner but when it comes down to it I have stacks and stacks of romance and chick lit books. I have even created flair for some of my favorite books including Jenny's books. For fellow facebookers you can put Catherine Scott in to the flair search window and my flair creations will pop up. Even my closest friends don't know that!!

Speaking of Jenny..here's another admission....I have yet to read all of Jenny's books because I want to have some to look forward to. I ration them. I know it takes some time for her to write a book, so I horde them!! I have them sitting on my bedroom book shelves...just waiting to be read. I don't remember why but this past fall I was in a funk so I gave myself permission to read Manhunting. It worked ;) This is something I do only with my most favorite authors!

Wow, I feel like I just went to therapy! I know that was really long but I couldn't stop once I started!

guilty pleasures, wow. There are some good ones listed already! Here's my contributions:

Reading in the bathroom, even if I know there are others who need to get in... eventually.

Eating the cookie dough wayyyy more than I ever get around to actually baking cookies with it.

Setting all my clocks (I collect them) to different times. People know that most of my clocks are wrong, but I always blame that on absent-mindedness, or the clock itself. Really? I'll go around and set them so they're wrong. What can I say? I love hearing the cuckoos and the chimes and gongs, and when I know it won't actually tell me the time, I can listen without counting or worrying. At least, that's the latest explanation. :P

Becky,

Thank you for saying one of your guilty pleasures was spending Christmas by yourself. I hereby intend to celebrate Christmas Eve by myself next year.

You see, my son and his wife (and 3 grandkids) graciously invite me there every year but I have to bring my 86 year old very dysfunctional mother. She treats me like a stranger as I haul her stuff (and her) there, monopolizes everything with her complaints to the point that when I was a little abrupt with her my son called me The Grumpy Elf and said to everyone that I didn't like my mother. Oh, and did I mention that she gave me $10 for gas (I'm currently unemployed) and said it was my Christmas present?

So, next year, I'm either finding a way to go there by myself OR I will spend it alone. Not doing anything with her, and if that sounds terrible, I'm okay with it. Otherwise I'm going to start hating Christmas.

1. Another vote for "That 70s Show." Can't help it; I wore those clothes.

2. Chicken pot pies, in their eco-unfriendly microwavable pots. Just once or twice every winter. I love stabbing holes in the frozen crust.

3. Naps. One of the joys of working at home. I turn off the phone and tell clients I was in a meeting.

NCIS is a shadow thingy? I obsess over that show. I own all the seasons, and watch those DVDs and literally nothing else until I'd watched the entire thing in order. It only took a week. Then I started it over.

Oh, I thought of a doozy. I like Barney. Yeah, the purple dinosaur. Can't stand the child actors and their lines for the most part, but when my kids were little, Barney was my Knight in Shining Armor. He kept the kids entertained, was a pretty good singer, and his manners are quite nice. Sure, he had his awkward moments, but what man doesn't? LOL!

I understand that Barney has gone to the great DVD clearance rack in the sky, and today's kids have new characters to emulate.

BTW, I really liked the Teletubbies, too, but only the British version. The American version . . . so insipid! But, with a British accent, they were four roly-poly tubs of class.

(-: This question is so old, I probably don't have to worry about anyone hooting me down. But seriously, I didn't think about it until I was scrolling through all the TV shows people listed. Sad to say, I just don't watch adult TV anymore, unless it's on DVD.

Hmmm.... I'm with those people who say that they don't have any guilty secrets (of this kind, anyway -- pop culture and consumer items that embody or convey status). At least, I don't think I do. I've made many friends watch Hudson Hawk, for example, and even managed to make them realize that it's not as bad as they were told.

I also buy too many books, but everyone who knows me knows that. It's one of the reasons I'm single, so I don't have to put up with an eye-rolling or worried SO. I am The Promiscuous Reader, it's my book reviewing and blog persona, and I'll read almost anything to see what is going on with it -- Danielle Steele, Sandra Brown (neither of whom I found at all interesting), the Left Behind series (I read the first one and found it better than I expected, but had no desire to read further). I don't pretend that I like what I don't really like to read, but I really like Jane Austen AND Jennifer Crusie (I just read Strange Bedpersons for the third time), Jane Rule AND Jeanette Winterson AND Ann Bannon. I'm sloooooooooowly working my way through Proust (two volumes down), and I can't say that I love his writing or that I'll reread The Remembrance of Things Past every year, but it's interesting to see what the fuss is all about. In movies I enjoy some action films (Die Hard, The Long Kiss Goodnight, some others) without shame, but I really prefer small-budget character-driven romantic comedies, plus the Japanese film After Life is one of my all-time favorite movies along with Moonstruck, Heathers, and a few others. I like gratuitous happy endings more than gratuituous unhappy ones.

I think the closest I come to a guilty pleasure is Brazilian bisexual porn (which means that it includes men having sex with each other as well as with women; women having sex with each other as well as with men isn't considered "bisexual" in porn marketing, of course). I'm not sure it's really a guilty pleasure, just one I'd not be likely to share with the grandmotherly women I work with unless they asked me directly what kind of porn I prefer. (Has anyone else seen the lovely scene in Paul Rudnick's play/movie Jeffrey, where Jeffrey imagines talking with his parents about his love life, and they start talking about Al Parker videos and phone sex?)

Since I don't have status or "class", I have little to lose by acknowledging the kinds of music or movies or books or food I like... which reminds me: braunschweiger. I also ate it as a child, and once in a while I buy some at the store and indulge. My mother made sandwiches with braunschweiger and Kraft Sandwich spread on white bread; the only change I've made is to substitute multigrain bread. Not a guilty pleasure, except that I know it's not good for me.

This is a great question!

Okay, *deep breath*... here goes:

1) Rocky Horror Picture Show- I've seen it over 350 times. And the real shadow? I've played roles in the audience participation shows.

2) Bret Michaels Rock of Love. Bret Michaels. 'Nuff said.

3) I have Hannah Montana music on my MP3 player. And nobody forced me.

Okay. I'm done now (running quickly from the room lest anyone get a positive ID on me).

Back for more.

I'm with you, Maria. Titanic was a realy train wreck--I mean shipwreck--of a movie. I didn't like Dances with Wolves either. There! I've said it.

I bought my first Barbie when I was 48.

I've spent 4 years in the Beginner Yoga class because I'm too lazy to move up to intermediate.

Illya or Bunter? Bunter or Illya? Can I have both? (I was also in love with Captain Crane on Voyage to the bottom of Sea, and this is the first time I've ever, ever, ever admitted that.)

I'm having a ton of fun with this list of shadow faves (no, that's not a confession). Thanks Jenny. I think there might be a book in this.

Forgot to mention I eat popcorn with a spoon. I'd be going through a small tree's worth of napkins if I didn't, on account of that crucial half a stick of butter. I sort the popcorn after it's popped, too, so there aren't any failed kernels in the bowl.

OK, so I still read Laurell Hamilton, but I don't buy them any more. And I much prefer the fairy princess to the Anita.

I buy Lynne Graham books. They're all the same story, more or less, but I get something out of them.

Not a fan of liverwurst - or paté it's the texture, I don't like flan or pudding, either. But knock yourselves out, if you enjoy it!

The state of my house and wardrobe are pretty embarrassing - I'm a lazy slob, but prefer not to advertise it by letting people know about the piles of clean/ dirty laundry, stacks of books, etc.

I love dance movies, too!

And if there were a sandwich cookie like a Little Debbie Nutty Bar that had a decent amount of real chocolate on it, I'd be dead of overindulgence. Love the extra-fat peanut butter, but the "chocolate" coating leaves a lot to be desired.

But mostly, I have NO shame.

1. Spider solitaire. I personally believe that Bill Gates may a deal with the devil -Microsoft got to make a billion dollars and some of us would have to play spider day after day after day. I can justify all my other bad habits but this one is just a complete time sink.

2. I eat rice a roni a lot more than I eat salad.

3. Although I can no longer eat them, scrapple and liverwurst are high on my list of favorites. Actually liver in any variety is pretty high. I didn't understand until I got to college why people didn't like it, and I know it's not good for you but calves liver with bacon and onions was a real treat in my house. (Hint - it's not supposed to taste like shoe leather)

4. Shakespeare, Austen, nonfiction books no one else has ever heard about. Okay, I like them. I don't read them in public because it means a lot of comments & I'd really don't care if other people think they're wierd. I'm not trying to prove something and I don't think everyone else has to like them but I do.

5. Children's programming on PBS. I love Clifford and Cyberchase and spend way too much time watching them (especially when I had a cold). They've just switched the schedule so I may be watching Bob the Builder next. And no, I have no kids.

6. Westerns & action movies/TV shows. I also own V the miniseries, Speed, the Mummy movies, Jurassic Park, Alien, Die Hard. Okay, I also own the Big Valley and Guns of Will Sonnett and a lot of John Wayne. And yes, some days I sit around watching nothing but Wayne and/or Alien vs Predator. (Ironman I haven't seen - Robert Downey doesn't do it for me.)

What can I say - I'm a little schizophrenic in my tastes.

7. If they wanted you to share, they should put more than 6 Klondike bars in a box.

8. I have books & movies my nieces aren't allowed to see. I don't mean watch - I mean they have no knowledge these things are in my house.

1. I have a huge crush on David Bowie, and have since seeing him in Labyrinth. Not too shadowy, because my husband knows, and bought me tickets to see him in concert--even though I regularly refer to DB as "husband #2.
Also, I hate most chores, but love to iron. I go through more cans of starch in a year than bottles of wine.
Sometimes I take naps during my plan period.
I still don't what's so great about The Scarlet Letter.
And my new year's resolution was to stop feeling dorky for liking the things I like. : )

Movies: The Gun in Betty Lou's Handbag; The Year of the Comet (I guess I like Penelope Ann Miller)

I'm with McB: I say I'm allergic to seafood ... it turns out I am allergic to iodine so it's almost true, right?
