At least Gaffney pointed out that you lose all your sense as you age. She's such a comfort. Thank you Cathy and all for the siphon idea. The good news: 1) Smells have slowly been coming back to her since the accident, as her brain injury heals and the brain rewires itself. He said it in a really nasally way, too. His explanation was that when your nose is bombarded with smells, it shuts down. For example, you don't smell anything in your house, but your neighbor walks in and says, "Ewww! Did you steam broccoli last night?" or worse, "I can tell you have dogs." Well, too bad, neighbor! Just don't come over, or stay long enough to get nasal fatigue!
