You can throw all the monsters, serial killers and demons you want in a book and still not have it be scary. Clowns are scary no matter what but I have clown fear so I'm not one to judge. Yes, I had clown fear before It (and my thanks to Mr King for making storm drains a source of nervous apprehension as well). It’s not easy to write scary and that’s something a lot of people who try to write horror don’t know.
