Seven Days with Lani and Krissie

Feb62008

I’ve been cleaning instead of blogging because I have houseguests: Lani and Krissie were due to arrive today to spend the week doing the last rewrite on Dogs and Goddesses and also a booksigning at Union Center this coming Saturday. Then O’Hare shut down for the day because of bad weather and Krissie got stuck in a motel in Chicago. But Lani got here, so we went to the grocery and got Krissie flowers and a balloon that plays “Hot Stuff” when you touch the top. It was a real panic getting that sucker home in the car since it tended to bump the roof the car at odd moments. We considered working and then decided it would be better to wait for Krissie, so we watched the first three episodes of Burn Notice instead because Lani had never seen it and I love it. Also, Milton has fallen madly in love with Lani, and refuses to leave her side. Tomorrow we pick Krissie up at the airport, if O’Hare lets planes fly again, and after that it’s iHop, Hobby Lobby, quilt stores, and Dogs and Goddesses for six full days.

Basically it’s a week-long slumber party. With dogs. Nothing but good times ahead. I’d write more but I have to clean the bathroom. Another good thing about having good friends come to stay: Your house gets clean.
