Interesting… the Copyeditor’s Listserv has had a long thread debating the nuances involved when you refer to working together “collaborating.” I think the final upshot was that it was unremarkable to refer to a collaborative effort or to writers collaborating, but calling a writer a collaborator is right up there with calling her a Quisling who should be taken out and shot.

So this is apropos of absolutely nothing…but I was just rereading Getting Rid of Bradley – I’m a big re-reader, and got to the line “Shoot the cat,” Zack said. “It’s assaulted two officers and resisted arrest. Do it.” and laughed out loud – again. There are very few jokes that make me laugh out loud on a second, third, fourth re-reading (heck even a first). Thanks Jenny.

[i]Ruthless People[/i] is a great movie. All the actors in the main roles did a great job, stars and supporting cast alike. Plus the big scene with the cops, Bozo and Earl near the end is absolutely hilarious. Remember “We’re the National Rifle Association!”?

In many movies there is often one line that always stays with you. “I’ve been kidnapped by KMart” is the one line I remember from Ruthless People.

I’ve been in touch recently with a work friend I had slumber parties with before I got pregnant. We had so much fun with our girlie week-ends; you 3 are inspiring me to get one organized again.

For the movie, I strongly suggest Juno. You’ll love it, I just know it.

Ocean’s Thirteen. Was that the one where the camera kept zoning in on B.P’s crotch? He was in a white suit, and constantly eating something. I remember digging my friend in the ribs and saying one more shot of his crotch and I’m gonna barf. Then everyone started saying, “Shhhhh.” Like it was an important movie and if someone spoke you’d miss something fascinating, like another shot of B.P’s crotch. Loved Hot Shots. Can’t recall if I saw the others.
Anyway, glad you’re all having a good time. Everyone needs a mid-winter break like this when they live in the cold climates. The dogs will miss the girls when they leave. Don’t let anyone feed them too many cookies.
