Seven Days with Lani and Krissie
Feb62008
I’ve been cleaning instead of blogging because I have houseguests: Lani and Krissie were due to arrive today to spend the week doing the last rewrite on Dogs and Goddesses and also a booksigning at Union Center this coming Saturday. Then O’Hare shut down for the day because of bad weather and Krissie got stuck in a motel in Chicago. But Lani got here, so we went to the grocery and got Krissie flowers and a balloon that plays “Hot Stuff” when you touch the top. It was a real panic getting that sucker home in the car since it tended to bump the roof the car at odd moments. We considered working and then decided it would be better to wait for Krissie, so we watched the first three episodes of Burn Notice instead because Lani had never seen it and I love it. Also, Milton has fallen madly in love with Lani, and refuses to leave her side. Tomorrow we pick Krissie up at the airport, if O’Hare lets planes fly again, and after that it’s iHop, Hobby Lobby, quilt stores, and Dogs and Goddesses for six full days.
Basically it’s a week-long slumber party. With dogs. Nothing but good times ahead. I’d write more but I have to clean the bathroom. Another good thing about having good friends come to stay: Your house gets clean.

I love slumber parties, and a 6 day long one sounds fantastic. Enjoy yourself as well as writing the book. I sit here at my work thinking what a lovely job you have – to be able to work at home and with friends.

Burn Notice – watched the first episode with high hopes but it didn’t do much for me. I kept thinking, why doesn’t he get out of that oh-hey-over-here-guys-here-I-am suit?
Slumber party. Cool. Will there be pillow fights.

Your week sounds fantastic. I could use that kind of fun!

Sounds like the most fun anyone could possibly have without drinks with little umbrellas. Don’t tell me if there are those drinks ’cause planes are flying just fine out of Vancouver …

Ooh Burn Notice huh? I’ll have to go check out. Still need random viewing experiences to fill the recovery time.

What I like about Burn Notice is I think the PTB realized after a few episodes what an assest Bruce Campbell could be. He’s on the screen a lot more in later episodes.
I’ve gotten rid of my cable tv so I’m glad there’s DVD like this show to watch instead. My cable tv and cable box was nothing more than a very expensive digital clock.
Have a blast with the slumber party! Don’t forget to tell us what you had for breakfast.

I never quite warmed to Burn Notice…
Although we’ve just started with Pushing Daisies and Dirty Sexy Money here in NZ. Intriguing, both of them.
Have a wonderful slumber party. Who knows, you might even get some work done!

Burn Notice – love it! And yes it was great to see Campbell getting more screen time. It doesn’t matter what he’s in, he steals the scene.
Mmmm iHop. Love the cinnamon roll French toast, especially with their butter pecan syrup. Wish I had a Hobby Hobby here.

Have a wonderful time! Hey, when I got stuck at O’Hare once, they put me up at the Hilton (not the airport one, another one) – and Krissie got a motel? There is no justice.
House cleaning is an excellent reason to have houseguests – but no one seems to be coming to Chicago on PURPOSE at this time of year! Also, too busy shoveling snow to clean or entertain!

I have a question for you. I am enrolled in an online English class and we are discussing good writing this week. We are supposed to include an example of what we think good writing is and I was wondering if I could have your permission to put the first two paragraphs of Bet Me (my absolute favorite Crusie) up on my discussion board as my example of what I think good writing is. Up to the sawed-off shotgun sentence. If it isn’t ok, I will find something else. Thanks for your time!!

My favorite quote about house cleaning is from a Ziggy cartoon- “It takes less time to apologize for a dirty house then it does to clean it.” I apologize a lot!
I used to enjoy IHOP, but they discontinues their potato pancakes, so now I rarely go, but every time I do I ask for the Potato Pancakes. I’m hoping to start a revolution, get them back on the menu. Someday I might start singing the chorus from Alice’s Restaurant”, start a movement.
Will you all be wearing funny slippers at the Slumber Party? Thats the best!

I love to volunteer my house for any gatherings, because then I have an excuse to clean. And my friends are so good that they often help clean up afterward, too.
