Jenny–Bob needs rescuing! I never do this blog thing but after seeing both of you at Joseph Beth Booksellers in Lexington, I was curious about what you each had written on your respective sites. Bob had nothing to say about the experience at all except to wonder if people in Lexington watch the lunch-time news. (We do, but I didn’t–sorry I missed it.) Nothing about the book-signing in Lexington–just where he’d come from (Chicago) and where he was off to (Cincinnati). No comment at all about the book-signing and loyal fans at Joseph Beth Booksellers, which I thought was great! This is why he needs you. Desperately. Guys often forget to say they had a good evening and women never forget they didn’t say so. Thank goodness he has you to keep him straight and why the he-said/she-said thing is a great idea! Both of you–thanks for a great evening in Lexington. Hope the rest of your book tour is a great success! Sincerely (from Ohio but living in Lexington)–K.

I think I read that story on the Cherry forum. I didn’t find it overly violent, but then again, I like your off-kilter female characters.

I just re-read Faking It (thanks for signing it!) and love how crooked and potentially dangerous the characters are. The bad sex is excellent, too. That’s a rarity–a good bad sex scene. But such a great idea–it’s a really vulnerable state for the characters. (Unlike “Wow! Best ever! Glittery hooha saves the day!”)

I wrote the story and everybody (agent and editor) thought it was too violent. So I’m going to take another pass at it, and it’ll be the free short story in the next newsletter (there’s a link to a short story in every newsletter, The Crusie Quarterly, which comes out about twice a year. ?I think I saw that, but I didn’t check for the short story. Or is there another newsletter coming out? Is there a way to get it re-sent?

I have a question:

I remember reading in one of Jenny’s blogs about Agnes/Lisa Livia short story – I think it was intended for St. Martin’s Press or the crusiemayer website. The Cherry’s got involved and helped brainstorm ways to get rid of a body.

What happened to the short story? Is it published online somewhere?

I just found your blog – I’ve been reading your books off and on for a few years and LOVE the way the characters interact! Reading that e-mail conversation between you and Bob (don’t you love the technological age?! We e-mail and IM instead of walking a few doors down…) shows why your character’s dialogue is always so funny!
