More than you ever wanted to hear from Jenny Crusie.

Taglines and Logos and Winners, Oh My!

So Mollie and Mara have been working like madwomen, and now the merchandising designs are done and we have logos for both Agnes and the Hitman, the real book, and Mob Food, the fictional cookbook that Agnes writes in the real book. (We gave up on a tagline for the Cranky Agnes column; it just wasn’t working with the graphic.)

So first of all, a huge thank you to Charlene Teglia for the Agnes and the Hitman line which became this logo:

Cannoli Logo

And then an equally huge thank you to–TA DA WE HAVE A WINNER–Absolute Cherry who gave us the Mob Food logo:

MobFood Logo

Absolute Cherry, if you’ll send your address to Mollie at mail@jennycrusie.com, we’ll get that ARC right out to you.

And along with that address, both of you need to tell Mollie which piece of merchandise you want with your logo on it from the Shop Cherry store. Yes, folks, many weeks after we all hashed out the idea of merchandising, Shop Cherry is now open for business. You’ll be the first ones through the door. We’ve got Agnes and the Hitman stuff, Mob Food stuff, He Wrote She Wrote stuff, and Cherry stuff. Basically, we got Stuff. And there will be more Stuff because we’re going to go slowly through the back list and add things from the older books (like bumper stickers that say “Tucker For Mayor: More of the Same.”) So there will always be new Stuff to look at

And I am now solidly hooked on tagline contests because these were amazing, so there will be more contests in the future. The distant future. When I finish another book. Now that I’m finished shopping.

Taglines. T-shirts. Typing Always Kiss Me Goodnight. Life is good.

Yes! YAY!!! Can’t wait to go shopping.

  2. Robin on June 26th, 2007 at 9:48 pm

Awesome about the swag! (Please please some Bet Me stuff?)

Although…“Tucker for Mayer: More of the Same”…does this mean Sophie and Phin are Team Bob? : )

  3. Jennifer Talty on June 26th, 2007 at 9:52 pm

You realize I’m going to have to get you two to sing my shirt now, right?

  4. Jenny on June 26th, 2007 at 10:21 pm

    I put “Mayer”?
It’s because I was e-mailing Bob at the same time. My brain does not multi-task. I’ll fix it.

And I don’t sing, Jen. But I’ll sign.

  5. CC on June 26th, 2007 at 10:24 pm

Jen- how does one go about singing a shirt? I’ve heard of singing a song, making the bad guy sing and then sending him to Sing Sing but I’m not real sure about singing a shirt- you author types, always coming up with new uses for language

  6. Jenny on June 26th, 2007 at 10:28 pm

Now Bob’s worried about signing t-shirts. He just e-mailed back, “i’m thinking it’s really hard to sign cloth. I barely can sign paper.”

    Everybody should have our problems.

  7. Penny-scope dope cherrybomb on June 26th, 2007 at 10:30 pm

Love the graphics with those taglines. They look great. Going to go shopping now. Looking forward to reading the rest of the book, not to be confused with what we have read during its writing on He Wrote/She Wrote.

  8. CC on June 26th, 2007 at 11:25 pm

hmm- how about signing a mug- after all Lee Child did it for Jen-T

  9. Sheri on June 26th, 2007 at 11:35 pm

Gotta get a mug for work–and maybe an apron, because I make a mess of myself when I cook, and a t-shirt or two…

Really great stuff, Jenny–class act all the way!

  10. Julie on June 26th, 2007 at 11:44 pm

There’s a Cherry t-shirt on the way to my HOUSE! To say that I’m excited would be an understatement.

Thank you so much for offering the extended sizes, too. Let’s just say I’ve spent a little too much time in Agnes’ kitchen, and we won’t even discuss Min’s Krispy Kremes.

    I’ll have a t-shirt, though! YES!

  11. CC on June 26th, 2007 at 11:49 pm

Jenny- the tag lines that y’all chose are wonderful- I’m always blown away by the creativity of the people you collect/attract/whatever the word is

  12. Cherry Honey on June 27th, 2007 at 1:28 am

Oh gawd - now I’m going to spend all my money on Cherry Gear! Yipee!!

  13. Mel on June 27th, 2007 at 3:25 am

It sounds great, but right now, I can’t get in…did the Cherries break the store already ? : )

  14. Allie on June 27th, 2007 at 6:25 am

Oh yay, that was my favorite of the taglines!

  15. Kieran on June 27th, 2007 at 6:38 am

If we order today (June 27) will it be shipped this week? I’m hoping I can get it in time to bring to RWA National.

  16. Kieran on June 27th, 2007 at 6:43 am

Oops–I see it says it ships in two days. That’s great.

  17. Jennifer Talty on June 27th, 2007 at 6:46 am

Well crap - here we go again, me and my extremely long fingernails getting in the way of my typing. At least that is the excuse I’m dishing out. Sheesh, one of these days I’ll learn to use the dang preview box over here.

Sign the shirts! Not sing the shirts - sheesh.

You can tell Bob that are now worries about signing Shirts, ya just need a sharpie. Hockey players do this all the time. Kids bring their jerseys, t-shirts, even hockey sticks and the players sign them. The key is bringing a sharpie. Maybe you could give Bob a pink one.

Now, about you and Bob singing…. hmmmmm… I can picture and hear it now. Something to the effect of “Babe, I got you babe.”

  18. Deb on June 27th, 2007 at 7:40 am

If Bob thinks signing t-shirts is difficult, he should talk to Neil Gaiman. Gaiman has been asked to sign women’s breasts.

  19. me on June 27th, 2007 at 8:33 am

Ooo, ooo, I want stuff. It all looks great. I can’t decide. I LOVE the stove burner-bullseye.

  20. roben on June 27th, 2007 at 8:54 am

Wow. Love the taglines. Off for another look at the merchandise.

  21. MJ on June 27th, 2007 at 9:49 am

Great tagline choices, great-looking and easy-to-navigate site. I’m looking forward to hats, whenever they appear.

  22. K.L. on June 27th, 2007 at 10:43 am

I see shopping in my near future. I got my preorder in for AATHM yesterday. If I am lucky it will arrive a day early like TUMF did. Jenny, you ladies did a fabulous job on that book. I’m loving it. Can’t wait for AATHM.

  23. Zipessin on June 27th, 2007 at 10:47 am

hmmm…i love the mug..but i somehow miss “we are doomed” on the backside of “nothing but good times ahead” *huge grin*

  24. Zipessin on June 27th, 2007 at 10:51 am

i am so slow. and soooo sorry. shoulda looked through the whole shop before complaining. sorry

  25. Pam W. on June 27th, 2007 at 11:12 am

Why am I not surprised there’s a Cherry shirt for dogs?

  26. Jennifer Talty on June 27th, 2007 at 11:20 am

Deb - I’m sure any man who has been asked to sign a boob hasn’t ever complained about it.

  27. Melissa on June 27th, 2007 at 12:50 pm

Jennifer Talty- I think you may be on to something. Though I can’t see Bob signing a boob gracefully. So ladies don’t wear the shirts when you ask him to sign it.

And I have to have a t-shirt, a coffee mug, and apron. I don’t even cook but I have to have that APRON. It might inspire me to cook.

    Hmm, does noodles count?

  28. Charlene Teglia on June 27th, 2007 at 1:09 pm

Oh, yay! Not only do I get an ARC, I get a tee shirt! Thank you, what a terrific bonus. *ggg*

  29. Jill on June 27th, 2007 at 1:26 pm

I see a CherryShopAholics group meeting in my (very near) future. Shop Cherry is fabulous.

  30. Jennifer Talty on June 27th, 2007 at 1:32 pm

I want to know…. where are the boxers? My critique group (the Fly Girls) did boxers from cafepress, they are just adorable and make for cute jammies.

  31. Marcia in OK on June 27th, 2007 at 3:08 pm

Ummm . . . just a few comments about the “Shop Cherry” stuff.

1st - I’m with Jen-T . . . where are the boxers? Black, red or black and red would be nice.

Also, if I’m going to pimp for AATH - and I’m going to anyway - it’d be nice if “a novel by Jennifer Crusie and Bob Mayer” were on the shirt somewhere. Somehting like the “coming in June” webpage for the book. If you’re going to this much trouble - put your names on it please.

    Just saying . . .

  32. MJ on June 27th, 2007 at 3:20 pm

    Yes! Boxers! Please!

  33. Jenny on June 27th, 2007 at 5:30 pm

Believe it or not, the whole idea was not to pimp you out. That is, we figured the Cranky Agnes logo and the taglines were fun, and that especially the Mob Food stuff would be like wearing something that Agnes would wear. Kind of performance art. The idea was to NOT turn you into a walking billboard (since nobody can buy Mob Food).

I’ll tell Mollie about the boxers, but I’m not sure where the logo would go . . .

And there absolutely will be no cherry thong.

  34. Melissa aka SOCherry on June 27th, 2007 at 6:01 pm

Ah, come on Jenny. The fun with that one would be finding the logo. We promise not to ask you to sign those.

  35. K.L. on June 27th, 2007 at 6:36 pm

Tell Mollie good job on the website update. Now that Agnes has a cover, you can start promoting it better.

  36. Louisa on June 27th, 2007 at 9:35 pm

How about a Cranky Agnes shoulder holster?
    Handcuffs.
    No, okay. Not handcuffs.
    That would be WTT.

  37. Jennifer Talty on June 27th, 2007 at 9:37 pm

Um Jenny - about that logo and the boxers… not delicate way of putting this…. but…. butt cheeks baby. You know, like all those sweatpants that have things like “cheer” “leader” or “grils kick” “hockey butt” written across each butt cheek. Yeah, the butt cheeks.

And what do you mean no Cherry Thong? Jeez, that’s not fair I tell you! Not fair.

  38. Reb on June 28th, 2007 at 4:09 am

    Zipessin, you want this mug:

    http://www.cafepress.com/shopcherry.144568165

    So do I!

  39. Marcia in OK on June 28th, 2007 at 9:22 am

Jenny, I wasn’t complaining about advertising. I’m a CB and this it the kinda thing we love.

I missed the logo or names on the AATHM t-shirts. I already tell everyone to read all your stuff anyway.

On the thong - I agree with you. Sorry Jen-T. On the boxers - I usually prefer stuff printed on the bottom front thigh part. But, for you guys, I could probably break my own rule about not wearing boxers with stuff printed on the butt.

    No worries. I’ll be shopping.

  40. Jennifer Talty on June 28th, 2007 at 10:55 am

Marci in OK - My Fly Girls Boxers have the logo on the right bottom thigh part. It works. I will worn you though, if they do put them up on the cherry store, you won’t be wearing them in public. They are kind of see through. Like I said before, comfy as PJ’s. Or writing attire. Just saying.

Come on - a Cherry thong? Doesn’t anyone else see the glory in that?

  41. Melissa on June 28th, 2007 at 11:52 am

    Jennifer Talty-I see the glory.

OT-I know you’re a fan of Austen wondering if you heard about this- http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=9669835

  42. gay on June 28th, 2007 at 1:10 pm

The mob food logo is outrageously cool. Way to go!!!

  43. Louis on June 28th, 2007 at 6:59 pm

Just ordered some of the baseball shirts. If they are similar to the CB baseball shirts…then excellent….extra long…make a nice sleep shirt for you young ladies.

  44. JulieB on June 28th, 2007 at 7:42 pm

Congratulations to the tag line winners! They are fun logos. As for the other product lines, I get the sleep-boxers. I just don’t get thongs.

  45. Jennifer Talty on June 28th, 2007 at 7:49 pm

Oh thank you Melissa. I’m glad someone sees the glory.

I got confirmtion that my order from Cafe’ press has been shipped. Yeah me. I guess I should go check to see if the boxers have been put up. Have they been put up? I want boxers.

  46. Reb on June 28th, 2007 at 8:24 pm

Hey Jen T, I want the thongs too. With a cherry in a certain position. :-)

Jenny, for when you’re in NZ, I saw the perfect biscuit at the supermarket the other day. Raspberry Tim Tams, 46% chocolate, called “Love Potions”. Does it get better than that?

  47. Jennifer Talty on June 29th, 2007 at 10:56 am

Ahhhh Reb! I’m with ya on that one!

  48. RandomRanter on June 29th, 2007 at 11:15 am

Congrats to the winners and to Molly for all her hard work. That is just amazing.

  49. dee on July 1st, 2007 at 9:10 am

My husband, Shane, insisted that I get two of the “Leave the gun” mugs, one for him and one for his co-worker, both HUGE Godfather fans, and also huge fans of YOUR work. Yes, he read DLD, and loaned it to his co-worker. Now they’re both looking forward to “Shane and the Food Critic”… :)

  50. Laura B. on July 6th, 2007 at 12:45 pm

I want swag with “If you can’t be a good example, be a horrible warning.” :-)

  51. Jamie on July 6th, 2007 at 8:54 pm

OOOOOO! I really like that one Laura B. That’s one of my fav book quotes ever.
